Early Start Services

About Kids Advocacy listens to parents concerns, complete an early start evaluation, and make appropriate referrals, if necessary. Once a referral is made to Regional Center, AKA will continue to assist and ensure that Regional Centers assessment is thorough, meet the legal and mandated timeline, and that the IFSP (Individualized Family Service Plan) is based on the specific needs of your child and appropriately implemented. Early intervention is the key to positive outcomes. You know your child better than any professional. If you suspect something is not quite right contact us and we will begin the process immediately!

Skills such as taking a first step, smiling for the first time, and waving "bye bye" are called developmental milestones. Children reach milestones in how they play, learn, speak, behave, and move (crawling, walking, etc.).Click on the age of your child to see the milestones:

Early intervention involves the prompt identification of delays and risk factors and the provision of assistance to eliminate or minimize problems resulting from them. Early intervention services are designed to meet the developmental needs of each eligible infant or toddler and the needs of the family related to the infant's or toddler's development.

There are a wide range of services available. Services include; medical services for diagnosis and evaluation; physical, occupational, and speech therapy services; special instruction provided by infant education teachers to promote development and social services to provide family support, counseling and home visits.
